When it comes to culinary delights, few things rival the satisfaction of a bowl of homemade guacamole. This beloved dip is practically a universal favorite, and it’s no wonder. Whether as an appetizer or a burrito bowl topping, guacamole holds a special place in our hearts (and stomachs).

Restaurants, take note: the quality of your margaritas and guacamole can make or break my dining experience. If they pass the guacamole test, I’m a happy camper.

Why This Guacamole Recipe?

Guacamole is a breeze to make, but one misstep with the ingredients can spell disaster. We’ve all been there, trying to salvage an overpowered batch. That’s why this go-to guacamole recipe, inspired by Alton Brown’s acclaimed version, is the answer.

The Ingredients You’ll Need

– 3 Ripe Haas avocados, halved, seeded, and peeled
– Juice of 1 lime
– 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
– 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
– 1/2 medium red onion, finely diced
– 1 jalapeno pepper, minced (seeds removed)
– 2 Roma tomatoes, diced and deseeded
– 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, finely chopped
– 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions for Perfection

  1. In a large bowl, scoop out the avocado pulp and add most of the lime juice, reserving about one tablespoon for later. Gently mash the avocados, ensuring the lime juice blends well.
  2. Now, incorporate the kosher salt and cayenne pepper, mashing until they’re evenly mixed.
  3. Fold in the finely diced red onion, minced jalapeno (seeds removed), diced and deseeded Roma tomatoes, chopped cilantro, and minced garlic. Don’t forget to add the remaining lime juice.
  4. Ideally, let your guacamole sit at room temperature for an hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld. However, if you’re in a hurry, rest assured that it will still taste amazing if you serve it sooner.

Bonus Tip: No citrus juicer? No problem! Use a fork to extract every drop of lime juice by pressing it into the lime half and squeezing while moving the fork from side to side.

There you have it, the ultimate guacamole recipe that’s sure to please any crowd. Whether it’s a casual get-together or a Latin-themed dinner, this guacamole will be the star of the show.
