Jane and I are often asked why we chose to move to Costa Rica.

In February of 2017 both Jane and I developed several serious health issues. Since retirement was out of the question, we needed to find a healthier lifestyle before it was too late. I went to my world globe and looked for someplace tropical, similar time zone, with clean water, clean air and land access back and forth from Canada, South America, Central America and Mexico. Costa Rica provided the destination we needed to have access to our Canadian families and vice versa. From there I spent hours looking up all the advantages and disadvantages of the selected areas.

The search was based on tropical weather, great health care, access to fitness and enjoyable activities; stable democratic government, pollution free air, clean water, healthy natural food, economically affordable, Christian based society, family oriented social structure, good education system, good employment opportunities and being able to get by with English until we can learn the local language. Costa Rica turned out to be heads and shoulders above any of the other options. The top region in Costa Rica was clearly the Papagayo area due to the proximity of the Liberia airport. It’s ironic that Forbes magazine did the same analysis in December of 2023 and ranked Costa Rica the NUMBER ONE place in the world to retire. Since moving to Costa Rica part time our personal health has improved exponentially. In fact, I have rarely seen so many people in their golden years in such good shape as I have found here in the land of PURA VIDA. I am told by some of the locals it’s because the country is blessed with having multiple “Blue Zones”.

If you are thinking about vacationing or moving to Costa Rica, I am happy to assist you in navigating the landscape of our little Paradise. Fun facts: Jane and I have been married for over 25 years and live in PACIFICO, Playas Del Coco, Carrillo, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. We have 6 amazing kids, 7 grand kids and a whole plethora of in-laws, outlaws, nieces, and nephews that make us both very proud. I love golfing, snorkeling, hiking, pickle-ball, camping, fishing, and traveling. We have amazing golf courses in all price ranges. I can show you crystal clear snorkeling beaches in the Papagayo Bay.

We have 2 mountain hiking trails right here in PACIFICO along with miles of ocean beaches and mountain terrain nearby.  We have 2 professional pickle-ball players that have been holding clinics a couple times a week in one of the local developments. If you enjoy pickle-ball I can introduce you to some of the club members, you will have a blast. We have several fishing tour guys that will not disappoint you. If touring, sightseeing & exploring is important to you, a home base in Playas Del Coco or Playa Hermosa are great options. From here you have the flexibility to arrange expeditions, tours, and travel through the entire country.

From the Liberia (Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport) or San Jose (Juan Santamaria International Airport) you have easy access to anywhere in the world.  I would love to show you the awesome lifestyle and quality of life Costa Rica has to offer.
